As Passover preparations begin, all chametz must be removed from the home. It may not be eaten or owned, and it is forbidden to benefit in any way from chametz during Pesach. Since most commercially produced dog foods contain chametz, this leaves the family dog with nothing to eat.
Making homemade dog food has many nutritional benefits as well as giving dog owners the assurance that their pet is receiving wholesome foods without artificial ingredients. Making homemade meatloaf and stew for the family dog are simple and easy. The following recipes may be made in large quantities, separated into daily or weekly portions, and frozen until needed.
The meatloaf, stew and treat recipes here contain no chametz, although they may contain kitniyot which is allowable to own and derive benefit from its use as long as it is not used for human consumption. These recipes are great for Passover and can also be used year round to feed the family dog. And the best part? It’s Super Simple and Kosher Too!
